FS-2500 Bypass oil filter, installed on a 06 F350 w/ 6.0 L Diesel
Hours on motor at install - 708
Miles at install - 28000

Step 1 - Clean your skanky work area. If you buried your truck in the mud recently like me?!? Give the bottom a good power washing too!
Step 2 - Gather tools & materials
Step 3 - Prep truck, she's tall & you don't want to scratch her. Small scaffold & moving pads are nice!
Step 4 - Drain oil as you normally would for any oil change. If you have never changed your oil? You shouldn't be installing this filter.
Step 5 - Start with the connection under the hood, replace the black plastic oil filter cap with the shiny new billet style. (replace full flow filter also, Duh) It was easier to start the threaded 90 first and tighten it after the cap was back on the filter housing. This also lets you line up the outlet in the direction you want it to go after the cap is tightened.
Step 6 - Connect the 1/8" hose to the 90 and route under the coolant reservoir. I decided to run my line along some wire bundles, over the HFCM & over the frame.
Step 7 - Connect the oil drain plug adapter & 1/4" 90 to the oil pan. I stopped tightening when the 90 was pointing at the passenger side & slightly forward towards the large frame cross member. The kit does not include a new copper washer so you will need to reuse the old one from your drain plug.
Step 8 - Connect the 1/4" line to the fittings and route to the same area as the supply line. I drilled a hole in the cross member for a tie down location. The other lines in that area seem to flimsy for an anchor point.
Step 9 - Now that your lines are in place, figure out where to mount the filter canister. I was able to mark & drill on the outside of the frame since I have a angle drill. Without the angle drill you will need to drill from the inside of the frame. There is not enough room for a standard drill on the outside. Also, a cheap drill bit will be eaten alive by this frame, if you don't have a good quality 3/8 bit? BUY ONE!!! WATCH FOR FUEL LINES inside the frame rail.
Step 10 - Attach filter to frame and make final connections listed in the manufacturer instructions. DON'T FORGET THE FLOW RESTRICTOR, you will starve vital engine parts without it!!!!!!
Step 11 - Refill with oil, turn it on and check for leaks. Don't forget your capacity just went up by 1.5 quarts.
UPDATE TO STEP 7 - New parts became available from
Filtration Solutions, they replace the oil pan return line and send the return oil to the fill neck.

*** I understand I missed many of the most vital steps here. All of them include Beer. They would not have been missed if I didn't have somewhere to be (sober) after I was done. Please don't think badly of me for not including them.
